Hi,
I’m modelling various listing pricing setups so that I can provide guidance to experts how to configure their listings based on their specific requirements.
I have the following 2 questions:
I have a scenario for a ‘Dog Walker and Pet Sitter’ business. As their different services are quite specific, there is no general base cost, all costs are derived from the extras as per the following screenshot:
All booking requests need to be pre-approved by the provider.
In the case of zero base costs, once the provider approves the request, the booking is set to ‘confirmed’, where this should go to ‘unpaid’ and the requester should be prompted to make a payment. If I change the base costs to a value > 0, then the requester is prompted to pay for the base amount (x days) and the extras.
Q1: is it possible to create a service listing where the price is calculated based on the price of the extra items only, with a listing base price of 0, and where the requester is prompted to pay once the booking request has been accepted?
I have set-up extra listing attributes to capture the listing service description. The advantage of these text area attributes is that these allow for HTML formatting, where the default description field in the listing setup does not.
The default description field is mandatory in terms of text entry.
Q2: How can I hide this field (I assume display: none; ?) with avoiding the mandatory validation.
The easiest option is to simply set the price to 0 for booking, then everything will work as you described. Other options will require custom implementation.
I have tested it again, however still with same result.
Scenario 1: base price is 1
The flow is:
Customer creates a request for 1 day, and selects an extra for 20/day
Total price is 21.
Request is submitted to provider for approval with status ‘Pending’. Request is approved, new status is ‘Unpaid’, and customer can pay for the request.
Scenario 2: base price is 0
The flow is:
Customer creates a request for 1 day, and selects an extra for 20/day
Total price is 20.
Request is submitted to provider for approval with status ‘Pending’. Request is approved, new status is ‘Confirmed’, and customer is not prompted to pay for the request.
I see. We plan to add an update to fix zero price, or we will add tiers functionality How to add pricing tiers - HivePress Help Center, which may be more suitable for you than zero price. At the moment, you can wait for an update from our side, which we plan to do by the beginning of next month or later. Alternatively, we can provide you with a temporary fix on the site if you need it urgently.
